The Challenge
Little Nest Co. had a problem they couldn’t name. Their Shopify store was generating £1.1M annually, growing, and attracting good traffic from a well-managed Google Shopping and Meta Ads setup. By every surface metric, the business was healthy.
But their conversion rate had plateaued at 1.1% for 14 months. Every attempt to improve it through ad optimisation and product launches had produced diminishing returns. Their marketing agency was running out of ideas. Their founder’s instinct – that something structural was wrong with the store – had no data to support it.
They commissioned a full Shopify audit. What we found was not one thing wrong. It was 23 things wrong – each silently costing them revenue.
Our Approach
Our audit methodology covers five domains: Technical Health, UX & Conversion, SEO Health, Speed & Core Web Vitals, and Analytics Integrity. Within each domain, we evaluate against a 180-point checklist developed across 200+ Shopify audit engagements.
We also go beyond the checklist: we run live user testing sessions, review session recordings for the top five entry pages, analyse funnel drop-off by device and traffic source, and verify that the analytics implementation is actually capturing what it claims to capture (it often isn’t).
Every finding is documented with its severity (Critical / High / Medium / Low), estimated revenue impact, and a specific fix recommendation with effort level.
What We Built
- Technical audit: identified 8 critical issues including checkout bug on Safari mobile (affecting 18% of visitors), broken discount code field on iPhone SE viewport, and a 404 on the most-linked internal product page
- UX audit: 6 high-impact conversion friction points identified – including a homepage carousel hiding the bestseller CTA on mobile, add-to-cart button below the fold on 40% of product page sessions, and no guest checkout option
- SEO audit: 4 critical issues – 340 products missing meta descriptions, collection pages with thin content flagged by Google, and an XML sitemap including 404 URLs
- Speed audit: 3 performance blockers – a legacy app’s JavaScript loading on every page despite the app being uninstalled, uncompressed images on the homepage adding 2.1s to LCP, and a render-blocking font loader
- Analytics audit: 2 critical data integrity issues – conversion tracking firing twice on ~30% of orders (inflating reported ROAS) and GA4 purchase events not firing on 15% of completed orders
- Prioritised 90-day remediation roadmap delivered: 23 issues ranked by revenue impact × implementation effort
- Fix implementation managed by eBizTrait across a 6-week sprint following audit delivery
- Post-fix measurement report delivered at 30, 60, and 90 days

“We thought the store was fine. The audit showed us it was quietly broken in 23 different ways. The Safari mobile checkout bug alone was costing us thousands every month – and we had no idea. The audit paid for itself before we’d even finished implementing the fixes.”
– Founder, Little Nest Co.
Key Takeaway
A Shopify audit is the highest-ROI investment a store generating over £500K/year can make. Most stores have conversion problems they are unaware of – broken on specific devices, leaking analytics data, or slowed by legacy code from uninstalled apps. Fixing known problems without auditing first is expensive guesswork. The audit tells you exactly where to invest.
